I picked up this used box today. I thought it would be something I could make a start on my treasure chest. It will just be something to start with, and maybe something I can use as a design for when I build my own box/chest. Right now I am just putting silver Canadian and Mexican coins. If anyone has a similar box .. please post.

Look like fun! Are you going to bury it somewhere and leave a map to be found?

Jbuck I have thought about that.
Maybe clues to a map to more clues ...
See if my grand kids can find it.

Like the National Treasure movies. That would be so much fun for them!

I am doing this for my son too! We got a pirate chest down at Gulf Shores and I put all kinds of coins in my chest. Not too much actual silver but I got 4-5 years before it will matter!

Nice GR. I knew it wouldn't take you that long. At first though I was about say that looks like an urn box until I saw us commemoratives on it lol. Do you know it's original purpose? Mcshilling, Dennman and Canacoins
I do try to pick the best condition coins. The local coin shops put these into foreign silver bins, and sell based on silver value.
If the bins get to full, they tale the coins off to be melted.

The box was set up for some sort of slabs, I never saw any of the slabs. But I think some company like Bradford or PSC put it together. I knocked out the slab rails and put the coins in it. I think I will work on this box ...for now.
Long term I am thinking I will have my brother weld up a steel chest.
I have a lot more foreign silver coins, I am not sure which I want to put into the chest
