Are there any key or semi key dates in ATB series? The Puerto Rico quarter seems hard to come by but I'm not sure if that is considered a key date.

I really don't think there will be any "key dates" at all in that series.....even the lower mintage years won't be low enough to warrant that label.... there's ALOT

There will be no key for this with at least 22 millions for business P and D. At least 1 million UNC examples are sold to dealers. It takes about 50 years to wear the mint example to EF40 for a clad quarter. There are always plenty of very attractive examples. Comparing to a copper or silver coin, it only takes a year to wearing down to VF20.

I would agree, no real keys, as far as really low mintage. My guess would be if your trying to put a set together from circulation, that might be harder. It seems like some ATB Quarters are harder to find in different parts of the country. To me the lower mintage coins would be. Proof versions 2010 satin's S mint business strikes But not lower mintage, that would make them rare.

I don't think that the ATB Quarter will ever produce a true key date, but I think the lowest mintage ATB coins are the 2012 silver proof coins.

I don't think anything there is millions of should be considered rare.

The problem is hoarding. Almost everything is saved for mint set or proof. So not rare for a popular series like linocln and Washington quarter when mintage is >1 million. For example, for mint state coin, the 1931 s has mintage of 800,000. It is hoarded and its price is about 1/5 of not hoarded coin 1924 d, with mintage of 2.5 millions.

Acadia-D at 21,606,000 is the lowest mintage business strike ATB variety. Quote: The problem is hoarding. State Quarter rolls were too easy for the general public to hoard, since BU rolls could be ordered by banks, who then distributed them to customers at face value. ATB rolls, however, cannot be specifically ordered by the banks. Once the mintages passed the 100 million per variety mark, the chances of getting BU rolls at banks (and in change) improved notably, but even the highest mintages of ATB Quarters can't be mass-hoarded at face value in the same way people could for even the lowest-mintage State Quarters. The first three years of business strike ATB's are (in most areas of the country) rather difficult to acquire from circulation, in any condition. And since I'm not seeing dealers at shows with tables full of BU ATB Quarter rolls, I'll hang on to my considerable stash of early ATB BU rolls....

I have one each BU roll for 2009 territory and ATB Quarter roll up to 2013 smoking mountains, including the S business strike. I had hope that they would be doing ok in the future. This may take 30-50 years. For quarters after smoking mountains, I just keep ATB Quarters from change. The conditions of those circulated quarters are very good. I may keep one or two set for myself. Talking about S business ATB, I believe the mintage is around 1.5 millions and decreasing each year. Because those are sold only to the collectors, 1.5 millions are still very high.
