With all the forgeries hitting the market, I have decided to spend the large amount of funds to have either NGC or PCGS grade/slab ALL my loose physical gold, platinum, palladium, and some rarer larger silver 5 Oz & Kilo coins. Why? When it comes time to sell in 2019-2020, I don't want the crooks to swap anything on me, an easy trick they know how to do, and, pays them every time. Example would be a 1/10th oz gold maple leaf. If I sold it raw, the buyer could swap it for a fake, and just cry the usual "not as described" for a return, leaving me in the dust. It would take weeks to try and win a case, which is virtually impossible the way ebay is, and, paypal freezes the funds on any cases until resolved. That would be a big headache.
A slabbed coin would have to be torn out of the case, leaving damage, so, it's safe. I'm sure the crooks are working on ways to solve that issue as I write..it's getting crazy out there!

That's a smart idea. If you submit a bunch together you can save a bit on postage. Can easily see how the raw coins could be switched, and all you need is to have it happen once, and you are s o l. Now you got me thinking, I have a few raw gold coins, and will eventually do the same thing.

Sounds like a plan if you buy from reputable sellers as they are counterfeiting the holders as well.

Yes they are local coin guy..it's becoming a pretty bad scene, so much so, I'm going to invest in the sigma metal analyzer system..a fancy high tech metal detector that can read through slabs...and large bars and coins, with the extra bullion wand, even deep under the surface, if plated. Protection in a crazy world.
