I went to the Denver Mint with my wife. This place is so cool she even enjoyed it. I felt like a young kid again. We were there last week and went first thing in the morning. After a short wait and a very efficient check at security we were in. There are some displays to check out before the tour starts including a large container that has over 200,000 Lincoln Cents in it. After a brief video and some background from the tour guide we went into the main area. This is cool beyond belief, we were on the floor above the main production area and could watch the entire process and the production was in full swing. It is amazing how fast everything goes, the machines will press 12 coins per second. The day we were there they were making cents and they were coming out so fast it seemed they were flying. Then they showed us the machines that make the coins for the uncirculated sets. These were in full production, the guide said they were expecting the sets from Philadelphia any time. They were assembling the sets and preparing them for final packaging, I think they will be avaliable for pruchase soon. The Mint is a super cool place for anyone to tour and over-the-top for any collector, they make it fun for the whole family. We were in the Denver area for the week so we were able to tour the ANA Money Museum and go to the Federal Reserve visitor center. We also filled out the week with a tour of the US Olympic training facility, a brief visit to Pikes Peak (too much wind and the summit was closed) and shopped many antique stores/malls and several coin stores. Everybody that we met was friendly and fun to talk with. I highly recommend a visit to Denver for anyone. I rate the tours on the following scale: Denver Mint - Over-The-Top C-O-O-L a do not miss tour ANA Money Museum - Way Super Cool very much worth the hour drive south of Denver Federal Reserve - Super Cool fun for the kids in all of us! Everything else - Cool and Fun, very much worth the time and money! These are the new friends that I brought back from Denver

Sounds very interesting . 12 coins a second ,no wonder, there's so many errors out there.

Very jealous! I was going to go to Denver and do all that stuff last summer but my grandmother got sick so we went to Philadelphia instead for our vacation... She got better and I got to visit a mint anyways, so I'm not really complaining! Sounds like you had a blast!

You did a great job of conveying your happiness and joy with the visit. I'm sure you will think of that trip every time yo see those coins and currencies that you obtained during that trip.

Nice! Denver is such a neat place, I can't wait to go back. I visited the Federal Reserve in Chicago a few years back, and they had a really neat visitor's area (but no gift shop, which disappointed me!). I still have my Fed Shreds!

I have always wanted to do a Fed reserve and Mint visit... one summer I am going to do a coast to coast mint visit... It would have to be something I would have to arragnge for some official reason... but start at West Point, Tour Philly, Visit the Depository, Hit up Denver... and finish it off in San Fran... wouldn't that be fun!?!
