52d Filled Die Error?

Looks like the center post of the D on the die broke and that area filled with the metal during the strike. It is fairly common for that to happen. Grease filled is when grease fills the recessed area of a letter or number on the die and that letter or number does not show when minted.

Hi Andy. I have seen numerous threads with a similar filled D mintmark. The consensus seems to be that the small post that creates the center hole in the D has broken off and subsequently the center of the D gets filled with metal when the coins are stamped. JMHO
