Has anyone used the restoration/cleaning services of PCGS? -what is your experience --are you happy with the results? Not taking cost into consideration, would you use them/it again?

I have never used this service and I doubt that I ever will.
Just because it is a TPG that cleans a coin doesn't alter the fact that the coin has been doctored in some way.

Agree to the extent of my limited knowledge here. I am unsure if PCGS or NGC will give a clean grade to a coin they have restored.

Anyone have any experience here?

I haven't used the service either and probably wouldn't since the few "proper" cleaning processes are simple, careful and conservative DIY, such as acetone cleaning. Proper cleaning can only remove extraneous material and cannot disturb the chemical surface of the coin, i.e. the base alloy or the oxide/patina layers. Where the extraneous material ends and the surface begins is sometimes confounded by years of chemical interaction, so in those cases I wouldn't attempt anything but if anyone has success stories we'd like to hear them.

I have used the service twice. The first time I sent two gold coins (a $1 and $3) in PCGS 'Altered Surface' details holders. Both coins had been puttied decades ago. The conservation service was able to remove all the putty and return the original surface. They are now in good holders.

The second use was submission of a 1932-D quarter, a 1928 Peace dollar and an 1883 No Cents proof nickel. The quarter was in a Whitman folder for decades and the back was toned flat grey and really ugly, and the dollar had just nasty toning and fingerprints all over it, but with really nice luster showing through. The proof nickel had a little corrosion on the reverse lettering. All three of these coins are on their way back as I write with good grades.

I am not a fan of dipping or messing with coins, and I actually love nicely toned coins, so I have been pretty selective with what I sent them. It is also important to read very carefully what kinds of problems they can address and what they can realistically do. So far I am happy with what they have done. I'll try to post pics. of the coins currently being returned and let you know then what I think.
Rest in Peace

I've used NGC's conservation services, primarily on early copper. Night and day between what I've sent and what I've received back and all but one were in righteous holders. One just had too much pitting to avoid environmental damage, but it still looked way nicer than it did before I sent it in.

I sent in 1799 Draped Bust Dollar that had really a ugly spot on it. It was solid in the mid-VF range, I thought, but the look of the coin was not attractive as the eye immediately jumped to that darned spot. They completely removed the spot without touching the rest of the tone and gave it back to me in a righteous VF-30 holder. I was pretty thrilled considering I'd only paid $400 for it, plus the conservation and grading costs.

I used PCGS on a Morgan that had some black toning. They removed the black toning, but the surface was etched where the toning was removed. I was not happy with the results. After the restoration, PCGS kept the coin in a problem free holder.

I currently have 2 1914D Lincoln cents at NCS for conservation (Verdigris) I'll post pics when they come back for a side by side comparison. I am hoping they land in problem free slabs.
