I've been trying out my new microscope on some of my wheat pennys.(I'm GETTING DETERMINED TO TRY TO FIND double dies) I think it looks like doubling on the letter E in the word Liberty, I dont see it on any other letter, so would that mean that its not MD? Let me know what you think?

You may have received damage from circulation or even ejection of the coin from the machine. But it is not hub doubling. How can we tell? Note that the overall size of the device has not changed. Just the top of that one device was altered. So it would not be a doubled die. Hub doubling also affects other devices. (sometimes differently as in class 6 doubled dies) But they usually are affected.

When I see just one device affected it is usually damage to the coin.

Thanks Coop, I'll find one of those DDs yet:) Thanks for your help:) Do you use a microscope when you think you find something interesting? I usually use my 10x at first, then when I spot something, I started using a microscope, (my eyes are getting old, from all this)

I only used my microscope. I used a loupe when I go to coin shows to search for varieties.
