I recently upgraded my Justinian follis with an unexpected
ebay find. With the coin in hand I am doubly impressed, there is just no way in pictures, I can show you how awesome thing coin is. You are going to have to use your imagination.
The planchet is nothing less than humongous and wasteful. In the 12 th year of Jusitinian's reign he introduced one of the most majestic coins ever struck. It was produced to weight of 22 grams, for a few years before being reduced in size in AD 542, the decline of the Justinian's follis was both rapid and permanent.
Don't make him any madder than he already is...
