http://www.jmbullion.com/2016-somal...y-night-set/So I am gettin into coin collecting and figured I would prob get ripped off. I had a silver toned purple coin that was beautiful liberty dollar. I loved that thing worth prob 80 dollars at least. I lost it and am very sad and stupid. In my anguish I ended up buying this... http://www.jmbullion.com/2016-somal...y-night-set/I know 2 oz of silver is worth 30-40 bucks but did I rip myself off or are these coins really collectible and able to go up in value? Thanks for honest responses.

Read about, buy and collect things that YOU like. As far as these coins go, they are always gonna be worth the intrinsic (silver) value so it will never be a total loss. If silver and gold did drop to zero then with what has happened in the world would pretty much be the end of the road for humanity anyway.
Personally, they don't float my boat, but I collect a lot of stuff that other people don't like, too. It's sorta the nature of the beast, so to speak.

I can't speak to those coins. The mintage is low @ 500 but the question is will there be demand for them. I'd suggest posting questions here regularly to better understand coins so you won't get ripped off. I tend to avoid the major sites because to me their prices are high. Find what you like and focus in on a few types of coins. Take care!

Very very few modern issues (govt issued or private) increase in value, but only time will tell if there is enough demand to support future values in the off chance you have one of those unusual items. Remember that this is a hobby, so collect what you like and find value in that. If maximizing profitability is what you are after, I' not sure I'd recommend bullion trading these days as margins are really really tight compared to a lot of other places you could put your money. Reselling garage sale picks on Craigslist and ebay is likely more profitable than bullion trading in the near term.

What like bitcoin? I got burned hard but I also had potential to make a lot in a little amount of time. I really like that purple toned liberty, so I bought this. I dunno... I just like unique things compared to say just a silver bar or something... just is more boring to me. I prob did overpay a bit but never know. Maybe it will be worth more in the future... I think its cool at least.

Buy what you like and what you. If every coin you purchase is one that you really love, it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks. Those new silver issues with limited issues are out in droves from all over the place and it is very unlikely that any of them will exceed their original issue price. You might get lucky, but even if you study the market for new issues, you need to buy a dozen coins before you get one that does increase in value. Take a look at good old Morgan dollars. You can often buy common dates in VF for $25-$30. Those will always be worth that, and possibly more in the long range future.
