Hi all I have just got this 1927 Canberra florin with a heap of cracks. Can anyone give my advise as to get its graded or not and on what grade they think it may get. Cheers Gutshot

To the Forum, Great to see another Aussie in the room Die cracks like this on the reverse is quite unusual on a Canberra florin. There is No way I can give you a grade using your images. It does appear to be Uncirculated but we will need clearer images that will show the "Lustre" on the coin as well as the details. An interesting coin, looking forward to seeing better images of this one

Those are much better images. The coin looks to be high end AU or Uncirculated with some nice toning. However it seems to be devoid of any lustre. does the coin have a Matte appearance or does it have cartwheel like reflectivity when held and moved about under a strong light source ?

Yes it does have that cartwheel effect when moved in light. I think it is my coin photography that's the problem here. I might try again with different light. I'm new to this. Thanks for your thoughts Trout.

Nice looking coin. I would Think that the reverse die would be prone to cracking because of the interesting high relief design. Though, I don't have any cracks on the 9 I own, great find, nice tone, looks unc without much doubt

Quote: I would Think that the reverse die would be prone to cracking because of the interesting high relief design Die cracks on the reverse of these coins is quite uncommon. The obverse is quite often found with die cracks through the legends though . They are often found to be slightly rotated as well.
