Hi. I'm wondering if an expert can help me out with this coin? What do you think happened to this bute. It is normal for copper to get a blue hue to it? It came with 4 other 59s and this is by far the star. It this somthing I should get graded? There is also some corrosion rusty bits in it. It came from florida. Thanks to whoever packed it it now has a fresh scratch on her head.

That toning is really interesting, I haven't seen anything like it.

The coin is of a decent grade and probably a narrow 9 but in order to get an accurate description of your coin, I recommend upright, cropped pictures that aren't at an angle.

I would say this toning comes from a chemical at some point of the life of this coin.

Thanks Don. This is by far my favourite coin right now. The bone heads that packed it slid it into a plastic holder and scratched her head. I guess I have to live with it. None of the other 12 coins had any tamperig and all have nice colour. Thanks for the input.

I could totally be wrong.. but I was under the assumption that dips like MS70 (the older version) would sometimes react and give coppers a bluish tinge...

That's what I think may have happened here... a chemical "like" MS 70 and it's reaction with the metal and atmospheric air....

Here is the OBV and I don't think it has been dipped as the colours are not as strong.
