@numister, I think that Petrus means that the "coin" that he linked to is plated (not yours). you can see a bit of the underlying base metal poking through the worn spots such as the knees on that coin.

Haha ok thanks for clarifying, so whenever you see worn portions of a coin and see a different colour means it's plated ? Could it be its just discoloured from whatever it was that caused the wear ?
No not really, it can also be normal oxidation (patina). But a green color on a 'real' silver coin is suspect. Or, as the coin in the link, the yellow color is cleary beneath the top metal. Here is some information on metal oxidations : http://www.chemguide.co.uk/inorgani.../colour.html
