*** Edited by Staff to clarify topic title. Titles are important! ***Hi folks, I'm really interested in adding this coin to my Toonie collection but I'm no liking the BuyItNow price...I won't be buying it unless the seller shows me a picture of the edge of the coin. What would be a fair offer? What is the book value on this coin? (I don't have an error book just the Charlton) http://www.ebay.com/itm/CANADA-2-TO...AOSwoudW5HibThank you!

I'm always curious why people do strange things listing items on ebay. In this example, why would you not just take the picture next to a 1996 twoonie as comparison instead of a US dollar? Anyway, I would stat by getting the weight and dimensions and go from there. The insert border obviously doesn't look right.

I know the Toonie looks strange which is why I thought about getting a few second opinions...Thanks folks. I emailed him a few days ago but still no reply so I probably won't be making an offer. You all saved me from this one haha

Looks like the German planchet, blank planchet (which came pre-assembled). If it weighs 7.3 grams, then it is legit. Those are more common than loon dollar blanks... I typically buy them for CAN$75 to $100.

It looks too abused and the core doesn't appear locked as a German planchet nor loosey goosey as a Canadian one. Don't know if you've seen this before NorthSideTy, quite a bit of interesting toonie info on this site http://www.coinscan.com/err/error.html

Thanks DBM for the link! I've used it before but I find it extremely hard to find some of those errors.
Tax return came in so I have some extra cash to spend but I can't find Toonie errors anywhere online..do you guys know anyone who has Toonie errors for sale, I'd rather buy from someone trust worthy on this Forum or anyone you guys trust?
If anyone ever comes across anything, or wants to let some errors go haha let me know.
Ty

Every Toonie error I find, there is a long time Toonie collector here in Ottawa who always buys them.
I have found some incredible $2 errors in the last few years, but this collector always snaps them up (much like I snap up nickel dollar errors).

Is it possible all the little abuse marks are only because it's a burnished planchet?
Cheers,Bill

Here is an example of a toonie blank planchet. As SPP stated...1996 German planchet is the only blank it could be because it is the only one that came pre-assembled. All other toonies entered the striking chamber as 2 pieces, the ring and the core.
