This was in my wife's Grandmothers collection. It has been in storage undetected for at LEAST 30 years, maybe twice that many.. I have had it for almost 20, not knowing what it contained. I let the suitcases collect dust for a very long time until about a yer ago. Thoughts on this one? Too bad it is not in better condition. Thanks in advance, Robert

Machine doubling, maybe? Looks like the "doubling" is lower than the devices.

I'm probably more sure of the MD on this one, but it might even be a double struck in collar with an ever so slight rotation.

OcalaFlorida, it doesn't seem to be anything like the link posted and thanks for posting it. I had not seen that one. That one is actually VERY hard to see the doubling on.? What I could see, looked like MD on that website pic.
For Everyone Else, What I notice on this coin is the extra devices don't seem to follow much similarities, such as all being off clocked to the South, or SW, or any direction really consistently. It is just a mess of a coin.. :) Thanks, Robert

I think this is MD. Because of its severity, I think it almost warrants a double-strike.

Thank you very much, NDCent!. To tell you the truth, I thought a LOT less of it when I found it, than now. After studying it, it really has me stumped!. Just the date alone has doubling that goes west on some and south on others...? I dismissed it as a double strike at first but do NOT feel so sure now. As far as taking it to a specialist, I wouldn't consider anyone but a grading service like PCGS (which I have never done) I wish I knew more about the process, such as "Do you get input on where to look" or "suggest what you think?" Are are they just going blind, 90-to-nothing whipping out coins? They surely put forth the time and possibly discussion on strange ones instead of just "my guess is no, it's nothing" I am not in a position financially right now to join and send a few off and when I have been, it's the farthest from my mind... :) Thanks for the inspirational words, I may move forward next chance I have now! Thanks again, Robert

When you look for the overall size of these devices, they are there, just altered a bit by machine damage during the strike. Looking at the date, you can see the reduction on the 2 & 4. The overall size is there, but a bounce during the strike altered them.

The measurable distance between IN and TRUST is shortened on the bottom, in ONE of the two copies consistently... A bounce would have made a constant shift in one direction. In other words, all of the IGWT has been doubled INWARD, not left or right or up or down. Each second copy seems to be off in a slightly different direction. Then look at the I in IN, it appears to have like 4 copies? Thanks, Robert

Correction!!, it is the upright of the N in "IN" that has like what appears to be 4 copies....
