ANACS COIN GRADING SERVICE HAS NUMEROUS PROBLEMS IN ITS NEW COLORADO LOCATION

As some of you know, a little less than two months ago, ANACS very quickly packed up and moved their operations from Texas to Colorado. Two weeks ago, I tried using ANACS to grade 5 Standing Liberty quarters. It was the worse experience I had with any coin grading service in my 37 years collecting. They clearly opened their doors in the new Colorado facility before they were ready. As a result, they are making numerous errors. Specifically, the wrong labels with grades are being inserted in the slabs, the quality of the grading itself is poor. Strange how all 5 of my coins received lower grades than PCGS had assigned. The online submission system does not work even though the new owner, Mr. Taylor, promotes it on the ANACS web site, and invites everyone to start using it immediately. This is very strange, considering the customer service reps tell me that the online submission system won't be up for at least another week. The system locked me out and I was told that "no one knows how to reset my account because they are all new and no one trained them yet". Last, when I initially contacted ANACS about these issues, I received no response. After another set of emails and calls, the Customer Service Manager didn't apologize but he did offer me certificates for free grading on future submissions which never arrived.

Based on these issues, I feel the need to warn other collectors of the poor experience they may have with ANACS. This is not the same company we knew. Fellow hobbyist should think twice before using ANACS at this time. I believe Mr. Taylor needs to be reminded that he needs to earn a customers business every day, and when mistakes are made; he needs to step up and make things right, which may also include an apology and refund

I did receive an apology and credit from ANACS today. Perhaps things are getting better very quickly. I will give them another chance.

I got 5 coins back from them and most, if not all, were graded lower than reasonably expected. will they pay for a regrade ?

Just for the record, virtually everyone in numimsmatics who has been around longer than the TPG's considers their grading to have slipped over the years, to be "market grading," i.e., not really in line with the classical standards of the original Sheldon Scale. You can pretty much guarantee original ANACS photographic grading slabs, from the late 1980's, to upgrade at least a point if submitted today. I grade according to TPG standards; if you want me to strictly grade your coin according to Sheldon, it's going to be at a point or two lower.

Perhaps ANACS is returning to their roots.

ANACS used to be good, tended to under grade, (based on much web searching to try to determine which TPG's are reliable), but I personally would rather have that than on overgrade.
