That's a little hard to believe that they would use Brasso to polish coins.

Nice April 1st story. However, King Farouk cleaned and polished many of the coins in his collection.

Not sure if Farouk did it or if it was done by the Egyption government in preparation for the sale in 1954. It was clear from the way they handled tha coins at the sale that they didn't know how to properly do so. So it would be quite believable that the polishing was done after Farouk fled the country.

Very funny. You noticed that their cleaning example was a worn british half penny which is worth 10 cents at most (before the cleaning!).
