Another sell out from the RCM. So, did the people on this forum manage to get one? If people really wanted it, it was available for a few days.

This coin is more understandable to be sold out, from all release.

Gimmick, but people like it, so why not.

I noticed, on the front page of MC brochure this coin shown with the bold lettering under the picture, something like this:
Mint's first dome shaped coin.

while inside the catalog, the words were more realistic and reflected the reality (these not exact words)

Mint's first coin with dome shaped effect

Selling out doesn't surprise me on this one. It has an acceptable price point, relatively low mintage (say compared to the glass coins) and a new 'first of it's kind' for the Mint. Plus the "saves the whales" eco thing is a popular theme.

Had the droplet been made of glass, I might even have bought one but I didn't because it's plastic and I doubt it will age very well. I also find the engraved sections of the coin to be poorly done.

Sorry to repeat myself from the April release thread but I think this one will be profitable in the short term for flippers and don't expect to see it at a discount anytime soon.

People who identify with this organization http://www.onedrop.org might be good targets for reselling. I first heard about onedrop because it was being promoted at the Canadian Museum of Nature about 6 years ago and I'm a little surprised that the Mint didn't partner with them on this coin. Seems like it would have been a perfect fit - like the Ducks Unlimited duck coins in 2013.

True...the main effort was carefully to glue plastic hemisphere to the coin and properly represent it.

.....plastic hemisphere....

I wonder if the plastic is appropriately biodegradable?

I'll never know, had no interest in buying one.

Someone asking for $200 doesn't mean they will get it... I usually look at the sold price or bid price instead of listing price.

"Sell out" is precisely correct. At one time in the very distant past the RCM went from one triumph to another with its designs. Now the RCM just goes from one gimmick to the next.

Sold prices on ebay are $135 ca ish, not really a money maker, actually not at all unless you get a decent dealer discount to begin with.

this type of coins not being "snatched" all by the collectors.
(ofcause not being said, that collectors do not collect such editions)
