What is NORFED? Is that the name of the company that the government shut down for making their own money (for trade)?

I suppose you could save a bit of dough and just go to the bank. I can still get UNC at my local branch once in a while. Yes, NORFED was the company that tried to mint their own coinage for trade. Big no-no as far as the Fed's were concerned. In fact, there used to be a link at the US Mint's website explaining that they were not "real" and treating them as such was illegal. I'll look for it and try to post a link if I can come up with it.

If they ever got round to setting up a coin category properly it might actually take off. As it stands browsing is a pain and listings are all over the place. I think I will keep an eye on Amazon though. If they ever get around to organizing there 8,000 plus items that come up when you do a search for coins it could begin to seriously impact on ebay.

That add stated $1.99 for the coin and $4.00 for shipping. I'll bet they would get many, many purchasers if they stated $0.00 for the coin and $6.00 for shipping, postage, handling, packaging, insurances, restocking fees and miscellaneous expenses.

There's a Presidential dollar seller there who's selling the coin for one cent, with $5 shipping.

Kinda like Mr Computer Professor sending free MS Office Tutorial CDs @6.95 S&H.

Notice all the dealers dumping the same coin (used?) in an associated hyperlink on that page.

They charge a pretty hefty transaction fee. I used to sell my college text books there as it was the easiest place to unload them (actually sold faster than on ebay), but I wouldn't sell anything else there.
