Genuine, but harshly cleaned. I had a 1931 s cent a while ago for a few years so I know what the date looks like.

It's so torn up that it's not worth much counterfeit or not. I imagine it is genuine and in seriously damaged condition.

I think it is a 1930 S that someone stuck a 1 on.

It is genuine. Hard to say whether it is cleaned or not from these blur pictures. From my PCGS graded MS coins The 3 of 1930 S is like the 3 in this text line. Very different from the 1931's 3.

carl - it does look suspicious, but the "3" on a '30-S is a different style from that on a '31-S, if I remember right.
