I didn't see this topic already listed, so I just wanted to post about this and get the ball rolling here.
I'm interested in building a classic commemorative coin set and I already am part of the way in completing it. I really like a lot of the classic coins and was just wanting to post this thread to see some of YOUR favorite coins (and to ask why they are your favorite).
It doesn't have to be all classic or all modern, I don't discriminate when it comes to cool coins!
My favorite classic commemorative coin that I DON'T have is... well, I have a few of them.
In no particular order: 1921 Alabama half 1926 Oregon Trail half 1935 Old Spanish Trail half 1936 Bay Bridge half
My favorites that I actually currently own (I have two favorites):
1) 1925 Stone Mountain half and 2) 1946 Iowa half

My favorite is the Vermont. I've never been to the state and have never had a relative pass through the state. Although the catamount is a very cool reverse, why would I make this my favorite?
The date on the reverse is my birthday!

I like the $5 gold with the statue of liberty... I am not sure why, but the design just grabbed me and I had to have it. Currently it is my only gold US coin.

I really like the Oregon Trail half also! :) @jbuck - I have a Monroe Doctorine half, but I don't really care for the design of it. It's not my least favorite by any means (I think that distinction belongs to the Missouri half), there's just something about it I don't care for. Also, my favorite modern commemorative coin is the 2014 Baseball HOF silver dollar (just because it is unique).

I like the reverse. It was this post that finally convinced me to buy it for my 7070 (I actually got to show it to commems at the same show where I had just bought it). For what it is worth, the only other classic commemorative that I have is the Columbian, so choosing the favourite was a 50/50 shot.
