Here is an 1814 large cent for your grading consideration. This is an S-295, "the Crosslet 4" variety. One of the grading services actually managed to get that attribution wrong despite the fact that it is a naked eye variety, and there are only two varieties for the 1814 cents. Opp! I goofed. I get wrong the fist time. It is the crosslet 4. The grading service still got it wrong too, the other way. Edited by billjones 04/03/2016 12:11 pm

Beautiful example with exceptional color. I'm at AU58 conservatively. I see what appears to be only the slightest friction warranting the grade IMHO.

Certainly no less than 58. It would not surprise me if the grading company called it MS something.

Very, very nice. I know the challenge for these classic heads. I'm thinking MS62.

Either AU-58 or MS-64BN. Just a great coin.

My grade for this coin is AU-58. The NGC or PCGS grade for it (I forget which.) was "body bag" for artifical toning. The guys who grade Morgan dollars didn't know much about copper in those days. I sold this piece, and it is now resting a main stream TPG holder.
