I've recently acquired a few late '50s, early '60s proof sets. Some are in Capitol Plastics holders like this one: Most of the others are either in ratty Mint envelopes or a rather sketchy Whitman proof set album that's as old as the coins are. I'd like to put all of them in the Capitol holders, but I can't find any for sale that aren't the long ones. Does anyone know where I can find ones like the one in my picture? I have seen similar sets at coin shops, but it appears that they aren't readily available in that configuration anymore. ebay search empty as well. Good luck in your search, I have begun to appreciate the capitol holders as well. By the way, Jefferson is upside down. :)

Are you sure that's a Capital Plastics holder?

I can only seem to find the long ones (all coins in-line) as well.

I'm confident that you have a Capital Plastics holder. Open your wallet, and Capital will make whatever you want.

How do the sets hold up over time? do most stay brilliant, or end up toning? I assume they are not air-tite, but look to fit pretty snuglyI have alot of silver proof sets in orig packaging, and would like to transfer some to other holder to display them easier. Are there any albums that would hold/display the new holder, either one like the capital or the inline whitman type? thanks

They are not air tight, so you are likely to get peripheral toning over time. You might try to figure out something involving Air-Tite holders. They provide a much more stable long term environment. Organizing and display is trickier, but Air-Tite offers a number of options, or the CAPS Album T page could display 4 five coin proof sets on a page.

Does Capital do custom jobs, especially for short run items?
