I am not sure how to identify this? Any help appreciated! The reason I question if it is a lamination is that I see no place around the circumference of the feature where it seems to merge into the field of the coin. It seems distinct from the field all around.

Shouldn't lamination merge into the surface layer of the coin at some point around its circumference?

It looks like it is on top the surface of the planchet. Si it might be a struck onto the coin with a bit of debris. Now adhered to the coin. If it were a lamination it would be more in a straight line and could fall off the coin. Looks like part of the debris is on the head? Note the missing corner from the field and the deposit on the head?

Thanks, coop - I had not noticed the bit on the head!
