I'd show a few pages but when I open it a golden light beams out like the briefcase from Pulp Fiction

Rare as hens teeth. They don't come up for sale, like ever. I don't even think conder has one

You get that from the Fred Lake sale?

And while I do have a copy of the first printing, I've split it into two halves and have used it as a working copy inserting new discoveries and pages into it over the years. It's in pretty sorry shape today. On the other hand I do have the computer files.

Yup. Most expensive darn book in the sale but you know I had to have it. I can see why they don't leave a collection. It's such a great reference piece. I don't think the computer files have the same raw tactile feel of the book although, that said, I don't have the cd-rom version.

Keep that tattered book safe conder and pass it to family or a good friend. It may be a "holy grail authors copy" in 100yrs!

I missed that comment about the price in the sale at first. I just checked and by gosh it WAS the highest priced item in the sale!
Rest in Peace

Once again - you can borrow the ANA's copy from the ANA Library if you are a member.

I've asked Conder about making a scanned/PDF version available, but he hasn't responded... sorry.

Can we do a Kickstarter for the second printing? I'd gladly pitch in a few bucks to get it reprinted and then buy a copy.

You would need Conder's permission.

He's said he was working on a new edition, rather than a 3rd printing. Especially with all the new discoveries in over a decade. He's also said the files from the original book were lost in a disk crash.

He said above that he still has the files...

It depends on whether or not he has any versioning procedure or software, allowing him to reprint the first edition as it was originally printed.

Jbuck, he published a cd-rom version of the book. Im.thinking maybe conder is saying he has the cd-rom version and maybe Burton is talking about all his original notes and files while creating the book? Just a guess

Burton, do you own a copy of the physical book? And were you bidding on this one? Anything goes in an auction but I was hoping you weren't the runner up... On the other hand, if I lost however I was hoping you were the winner

Actually he does. the first printing that Cascade has (100 copies) was printed by an outside company. The second printing I did with equipment financed from the proceeds of the first printing.

And while the original files were lost I was able to reconstruct them from various backup files. (I may also till have one copy of the CD-ROM version, if I can get the computer to read it. Haven't tried.)

Roger Burdette has approached me with the suggestion that I allow it to be added to the Newman Numismatic Portal. I am considering that.

Conder, what's the difference in appearance and/or content from mine to the second printing? Do you have a pic of the 2nd?
