I found a copper colored Texas 2004 State Quarter mixed in with my son's pennies. Both sides are copper in color. Is there any value?

to the forum!

With regard to your quarter, we really need to see some pictures.

There are many things that could cause this, but to try and speculate as to which one without seeing the coin will accomplish nothing.

Post some pics....but likely plated by a private coin company for commercial gains.
"Gold plated" coins are made and sold by many companies. Most coin collectors consider these "post mint damage" and have no value beyond face value.

An "error coin" produced by the mint is another matter, those have value depending on several factors.
But...post a pic...let's see it.

There is a free image optimizer just below the "add pictures" button on the reply to topic page.

That'll fix the size issues.

Can you post one of the rim? I'm not sure what to make of this one.

Is there any way you can weigh it accurately?

The strike is too sharp for the coin to be missing both clad layers. Most likely cause is environmental damage, a normal weight(5.7g) should confirm it.

I agree, probably environmental damage and weighing it will help confirm.

Even though it is not worth more than face value, its true value being in the lesson learned.

Thanks so much for the input! I will look into weighing it. Attached are pictures of the side of the coin if that changes anything.

After the new photos and a second look at the originals, it almost seems like someone was experimenting with bronzing, rather than typical environmental exposure.
