Remember Mike's Coins thread and all the bad press about him? Well last night I bid and won a really nice BU 1951 Franklin from a seller listed as Walruscoins. When I paid with Paypal I got back a thank you from guess who? Right - Mike's Coins. I wrote him back the following email
"Dear Mikes Coins,
When I bid on this coin I didn't realize that you were Mike's Coins. I have returned a coin to you in the past because it was not as represented in the picture. Please understand that I expect to receive an uncleaned 1951 in BU condition that looks like the picture in your listing, or I will promptly return this coin for a refund. Thanks for your consideration."

Hope he has changed and I get a great coin. Either way I will post the results here. Hoping for the best, but expecting the worst. At least it wasn't a really expensive item and I know I should have looked at the ID history and ratings more carefully first, but it was late at night. My bad.

Although it took over a week, I finally received the Franklin half from Walruscoins AKA Mike's Coins. He hasn't changed one little bit. The coin I received is not BU, has been cleaned with what looks like a soft wire brush, is scratched and damaged and definitely is not the coin pictured or described in his listing. As as per his habit there has been NO answer to my email asking for a refund. My advice to everyone is stay away from any listings as Walruscoins!

If you used PayPal, you should file a complaint. They will more than likely side with you.

I think you should file a complaint with Pay-Pal, and do it quickly.
I don't know if they might have some sort of time limit? Best of luck!

Paypal has a time limit, which I believe is 45 days. I had a seller delay sending me an item over & over, telling me it was shipping soon, then that it had shipped, etc. I finally tried filed a dispute with Paypal & ebay. It was day #47 & I was not able to access the item in Paypal since it was past their time limit.

He answered my second email with a terse "return it". No apology of course. I think I am going to keep it and frame it right next to my monitor to remind me not to start bidding until I thoroughly examine the feedback.

I am SICK of Walrus/Mike's coins, they have some of the worst customer service and shipping times ever. It seems to me they have no care as to when or if the customer receives their coins. Here is a summary of some things I have purchased from both their ebay stores (they have two: Walrus coins & Mikes coin) and their website mikescoins.com (I guess it's my fault since I kept ordering from them):

1 BU Peace dollar Roll: took 18 days to receive; not uncirculated dollars, AU at most, some were Extra Fine
1 1921 BU Morgan dollar Roll - Ordered March 5: received April 2
2 1921 BU Morgans (individual not rolls) - Purchased 2/23; date printed on shipping label was 2/25; received 3/31!! (not USPS's fault, Mike's just didn't bother to ship it)
2 1921 BU Morgan Rolls - Purchased March 21; have yet to receive the coins

I send them emails and they say "Oh yeah the coins should get there soon", then I receive my order a week after they say that. All they are doing is waiting until the customer asks about their coins to ship them out.

I am most likely NEVER going to buy from them again and I encourage people reading this to not buy from them. As you can see from posts above they are notorious for over grading their items. It's not the casual over grading, it's extreme. Avoid Walrus/Mike's Coins at all costs!
Rest in Peace

Well on the bright side Walrus coin is no longer a "registered user" on ebay, so be on the lookout for the new and improved version. Dang, 54 negatives for April, and there is a third of the month left! I guess that I was one of the lucky ones dealing with Mikes coin, yes shipping was very slow but I actually got what I bought.

Well, since it seems like it is well known that this sller is the pits, I thought I post a link below that dealt with the same seller. I did not revela the sellers ID in the link below. In my thread below, I discussed a long on-going problem with something I purchased and it ultimately took more than 3 months to resolve and I could not leave feedback because it was past the 90 day rule and I fully expected the transaction to be resolved. It was resolved but I would never buy from them again.
