Did someone do this intentionally? I have one Indian Head that I posted previously that appears to be a "dryer" coin. Could this also be a victim of a dryer?

No clue how it was made but looks pretty cool for a damage coin.Looks like a miniature ash tray

Not a Dryer Coin in the sense that we know them.
Vert cool coin. This was man made, how? My guess, extra copper was added to make both sides have a lip. Did they solder with copper foil as a form?
I do not know.

Assuming the rim is actually part of the original coin, then something along the lines of mox's explanation must be correct.

So that would explain why the obverse and the reverse look beat up. Being held on a vice or... or Just a worn out Indian .

Looks like the toning is worn off those areas, so it may have been altered before or after the rims were distressed.
