I'm interested in this coin but I'm having a hard time determining if it's actually authentic because of the price, private bidding etc.. I've been collecting for a while but still need an experts opinion because I'm not familiar with coins of Nero.

Let me know what you think. Thanks all

I didn't find a match on any of the fake reports. Wish I could put my finger on it, but there is something about the coin which makes me think it's fake.

This one from Forum's Fake Coin Reports seems to be pretty close, minus the reverse "S":

Thanks echizento, that's exactly what I'm thinking...it almost looks to good to be true. If it's real, great price and ill definitely be bidding but I was very suspicious even though the seller has 100% rating...strange...

I am not an expert either, but I do know that 'Nero denarius' is a fake.

Does it do any good to report these fake coins to ebay?

@Caesar, no it doesn't.

ebay uses the "we can't be expected to be ancient coin experts" excuse and allows known fake sellers to do their dirty deeds.

Wish ebay would....this fake coin is already pushing 150$ USD. The buyers in for a reaaalll treat...LOL...People who are spending this kind of money, in my opinion, should know better.

That's why I always try to get a second opinion on CCF...this forum has saved me many times and I'm thankful for all your knowledge and help members!

I noticed all the bids are private, which seems odd. Is it really being purchased by any real bidder? It seems more likely that all the private bidders are shill bids.
