The first is of silver, (.835). The weight will give you the denomination. I cannot read the inscription very well, but it gives the denomination in Ethiopian, as well as the date. It would be late 1800s or early 1900s.

The second is Egyptian, a 5/10 Qirsh, dated AH 1293, year 10 (about 1886)

with oriole and fioti. It is a fractional Birr from Ethiopia. If the mass is about 3.5 g, then it is a 1/8 Birr; if it is about 7 g, then it is a 1/4 Birr; if it is about 14 g, then it is a 1/2 Birr; if it is about 28 g, then it is a 1 Birr.

The date (under the right-facing bust of Menelik II) is somewhat worn, but it appears to me to be EE 18X9, where I cannot make out the third digit. However, I think that one of the frozen dates on these was 1889, so that is my best guess. As the Ethiopians used a calendar with a different year zero, this corresponds to AD 1897.

The "A" mark under the exergue on the rev means that this coin was minted in Paris. I believe that only the 1/4, 1/2, and 1 Birr coins have the date 1889 and the A mint mark.

Nice pick-up!
