Does anybody know where a good place to take my collection of coins to get cleaned? I live in Lake Tahoe and anywhere within a two hour drive would be okay with me.

Any info will be great

Thanks

As was discussed at length in your previous thread. Cleaning coins diminishes their value.

Most numismatists are quite passionate about the subject of cleaning coins and very, very negative.

(Did I mention that it's a horrible process, one that destroys the numismatic value of the coin?)

There are exceptions - e.g. ancient coins recovered from the ground. And there are rare cases where the proper, scientific process (called conservation) can be applied to preserve and protect or stop damage from progressing further.

But in general? BAD BAD IDEA.

Why don't you just give the coins away to somebody who will properly handle them for future generations?

Asking for this information is about like walking into an AA meeting asking for bar recommendations.

Your coins might need just a bath in Acetone ,this will not harm the coins. but we really need photos to determine that.

As you will find out if you read numerous posts about cleaning coins, DON'T. IF you feel it is necessary, just go to a paint supply place and buy some Acetone. Then use the search tab at the top and type in cleaning coins, coin cleaning, Acetone, etc.
Subject always confuses people. You wash your car to make it look more valuable. You clean your house too. Yet you don't clean coins?

Correct: YOU DO NOT CLEAN COINS.

That destroys their value.

Doesn't change the fact that other newbies, using the search feature like we tell them to do, might find this thread-of-stupidity and (not recognizing sarcasm) think it contains good information.

There is a difference between "rookie" cleaning and Professional Cleaning (conservation). Most coins CAN BE improved with professional conservation or "proper" cleaning from a knowledgeable person. Conservation is done by the TPGS's. NCS is the oldest. ICG is next as Mike Fazzari who does their work helped start NCS. PCGS and ANACS jumped into the business much later. I know nothing about them or their work.

You need to decide if a coin is worth the price of conservation. NCS charges for the service. ICG includes conservation (when requested) in the $12 economy fee to have a coin authenticated /graded.
