I guess here it is easier but if the SD is the same just how can you be sure not get a "normal" SD with some 3rd party gold plating? There is no certificate... nothing

Sorry, Pixu, I not sure, that understood the concern. But, just yesterday, browsed the ebay, and found some nice "single" coins from this set, while they graded and slab mentioned where are they from. Since I've seen them at the reputable dealer ebay store (e_coins), so they not fakes... But if you want this SD only, in this case I would recommend to buy the set (cause the sellers anyway will ask full set price), another option - again to find it graded - depends on the budget. **Correction: The graded 2016 Proof coins that E_COINS has right now, they are from the Silver Annual set (with Gilded SD), and not the Proof set from the April release...but it will come sooner or later.

Thanks. Yes I agree, that label is great, I wish all TPGs would follow this example.

There is no certificate... nothing Buy them from reputable coin dealers or Coin sellers with a good reputation ( feed back etc) on ebay with good return policies. I know Angus coins on ebay splits the sets and sells them, I actually bought a few from them before. I sometimes sell a few split up sets but only once in a blue moon sort of thing. But really, $99 CA isn't a lot and then you have the whole set, complete with CoA etc but its when sets cost $200 plus then I can see buying one or two of the coins separately. Plus Angus always has auctions running on these singles from sets as do other sellers, sometimes you can get a good deal on one. One thing though, these coins are always better left in there set/holder etc, when a set is split up the coins risk getting touched/scratched/ dirty what have you. If you have ever tried to remove a coin from these holders you will know what I am talking about...

I'm surprised this year that the mintage was cut to 12500 from 20000 last year, although it might be only that many were sold. But that's quite a significant reduction year over year, especially when considering this SD is significantly unique in appearance.
For that reason I also ordered a set, don't want to wait and then end up paying more on the secondary market.

Probably not, but comparing the current "good" price to the original issue price of some of the past Special Edition single silver dollars........on the buying end of things.......ouch, ouch! Meanwhile for years and years I have faithfully bought only proof sets, with the intent to "some day" complete a SD collection. What was I thinking? Therefore my new motto has become that of RCM "Buy Now!"

it is unlikely. At a coin show a few months ago there were tons of recent proof sets for sale. This SD is a nice coin. I bet the RCM would sell a lot more in individual clamshells rather than resorting to packaging gimmicks.

Smart tactics for RCM could be to issue limited mintage sets (3K-5K for example), and after it, when the sets will be sold-out, to issue individual coin (the SD). This was done for 1935 - 2010 and 1911 - 2011 sets....and looks like everyone is happy. The sets keeping their value, and collectors, who didn't want to overpay for set - enjoy the individual affordable Silver Dollar.
