Well, this is the first I am getting the chance to log on and check the forum, please excuse me for keeping my critics waiting lol wink... I do apologize though. I also apologize for the image being small, I did not realize it was that small, every time I tried to upload it kept telling me it was too large so I did use the optimization feature here and just must not have gotten it right... I'll try again, I thank you all for your feedback, yes I do believe there is a possible over date, I wasn't completely sure which is why I'd asked you great people for help with it. Undermy magnification glass there seem to be a few more abnormalities but they are faint enough you'd likely need the coin in hand... I'm very new at this and trying to learn is all...

Certainly better, but still quite fuzzy when zoomed in:

That picture is better, but I don't see anything out of ordinary, unless you are thinking there is 4 under that last 1. I think it took a hit and that caused the surface alteration, not a repunched date.

I am wondering if anyone can tell me, if you can see it, what the streaking across the coin may be. Upon close examination it appears to be somewhat of a layering, it spears as though the nickel (silverish color) is on top of the yellowing color? My husband and I are wondering if it's because the composition is 75% copper and 25% nickel? Or is it some sort of decomposition or perhaps someone tried to clean the coin?

I guess you have us all stumped. I don't have any nickel that shows that effect... it's rather beautiful and cloud-like, especially in the SE field. Does the reverse show similar toning?
