I was at the LCS today, and they had this coin. I had targeted this slot for an upgrade, and probably should have held out for a nicer coin, but the price was right, so I brought it home. What are your thoughts on grade?

I would call it F-15. Doesn't quite make VF-20 to me.

Based on the wheat ears, I don't think I could go better than F-12 at best.

Possibly VF20. VF15 most likely.

Just asking - I would like to see a grading guide that shows a coin with only half of the lines in one wheatstalk as "F-15".

Early lincoln like 1924 S could be weakly struck for either or both sides. You have to grade using both sides information. This is why this coin could be VF20.

I think the obverse is pushing into VF-20 range. The reverse is weaker, there is one spot on the left wheat stalk where the lines are fading a bit but not enough to bring the whole coin down to F-12. Just my opinion though.

This will depend on whether merging of the lines is caused by wear or by weak struck. This is a fine line, of which I am inclined to the latter but not 100% certain.
Rest in Peace

Come on guys (and gals). This just plain isn't VF. F15 is generous.

Well if I am counting votes correctly, I see four F-15's and an F-12. No VF votes. So no one is calling it VF. The obverse is better than the reverse though so it's a bit of a sticky wicket, eh?

Check out the filled R in TRUST! I could see it making VF20 because of the weak strike and also agree it appears F+ as-is.

It also has a filled S in TRUST, and a filled 4...
When I first viewed the coin, I saw the weak "O", the weakness in the PLU of PLURIBUS, and thought the wheat lines were more weak strike than wear. When I noticed the filled letters and date, I just decided whats a couple bucks, I like it!

I agree with F12 but I'm curious about the filled R, S and 4... how does that all happen to the same coin? The R looks maybe like a die chip?
