I adjusted the image to be brighter and I turned up the contrast. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Going to send this coin to ANACS hoping for a PO-01 and if there is a mint mark I would like to know. Thanks!

If you can't be sure of the mintmark it won't get slabbed. I can't see anything there.

Hrm.. okay... It will be sent out later this week.
The mintage for the 1875 CC quarter is SUPER low, only around 91,000 I think.

Actually, I should've stated I dont think its a CC... I also should've mentioned I dont care if it is a CC either. I was just seeing if others thought there was a mintmark since I'm hoping for PO-01.

you'd have to reference the LSCC and send the pic to a knowledgeable member of that group. I'm not sure if reverse diagnostics of the banner and its relative proximity to other points in the relief help an expert determine die marriage therefore identifying mint location.

Its a journey you could take that would yield valuable numismatic education as a result.

140,000, and that isn't super low for a Seated quarter. There are 44 other pieces in the series with lower mintages.

Nope, these dies were created from full hubs so the relative placements of design elements are the same on all of them from all the mints this year.

IMO, don't waste the fee. There is not enough showing on this coin to pin down the mint. Even the edge reeding (if it shows) is the same as the "P" mint issue.

Now there is one interesting thing you could try if you are "loaded" that just may benefit numismatics. There MAY BE a slight chance that the trace elements in the silver alloyed at CC is different than that in Philadelphia alloys but remember western silver was also sent to the East. I'll bet someone has all ready done this. Perhaps Burdette in his book "From Mine to Mint."

A lot of Nevada silver (Probably the bulk of it) was sent to San Francisco as well. It was often cheaper to sent it there than the CC mint.
