Good all. I recently found this specimen. Looks pretty neat. It is not double all the way around. Pretty much where shown in the pic. Might there be a name for this type
Of error? Thanks.

Not an error, simply machine damage. Dies weren't tight enough so they "rattled" causing MD (i got that right, right?).

Thank you bud. Pretty cool looking. Deserves to be in a sleeve. Speaking of wheat pennies... I think
I found a 1918 with a lamination issue. Not sure but kinda resembles one.

I, and many others, consider Machine Doubling a striking error and examples this severe do have some market value.

They are bought and sold everyday. Severe MD, well placed chips, cracks, greasers, etc. If they are interesting or unique, there is definitely a market in numismatics. Some of them rival the values of mid to low range traditional varieties and errors.

I have a 1990P quarter like this but the doubling runs from the head to under the chin. I thought maybe Machine Doubling but then I looked at other examples with the familiar flat shelf like appearance and sort of mushy details. I started thinking perhaps it was something like an eroded die. Since I am no expert in this field I just put it in a 2x2 and labeled it as "double face". I like it even it it not valuable.

I call this a high bounce. Note it didn't affect the motto, but bounced high enough, to not touch those devices.
