I received this one today. The coin have lustre but weak details on the left leaf and on king ( and shoulder). The fields are not bad but some marks are visible on the king shoulder and the crown is a bit worn in the middle. The weakness of the strike confuse me when it's time to grade it.

thanks

Mind posting a better picture of the obverse? Can't see it too well from my end!

But from what I can see it looks AU50-58, possible ms61-2. From what I can see, there is detail still in the beard and the luster seems very nice, but you still have dings around the rim. Nice coin none the less. After you post more pictures others will be able to lend their Two Cents as well. From what I understand, weak strikes in these dates allows for more leniency in regards to grading.

Shows some weakness of strike but it is not a MS coin, it does have signs of wear.

Grading these George V nickels will drive you nuts. The grainy stuff on the interior of the left maple leaf is a sign of weak strike. I've seen images of it even on SP strikes. Good luck finding a distinct pair of the second set of vertical beads in the crown band even on high MS. That blob on the forked ribbon below the bow on the shoulder throws me off. I don't see wear on the moustache tip, ear, or crown band. The field in front of the portrait looks odd, but if you zoom in, particularly on your first photo, it seems to be that wavy beach-looking stuff from die pressure (what do we call that?).

Overall I'd say MS62, due to the number of harsh nicks. I wouldn't be surprised by AU58 either.

I'll say au 58 I see disturbed luster in the fields on the obverse indicative of circulation wear, but might get a 62 ? It's nice

At begining, I was thinking of AU-55 but the weakness of the strike is a bit confusing for myself and this is why I ask for this one.

Many thanks
