just found this while CRH and this is the first time I have seen letters look like this can anyone tell me for sure what is going on here ? Thanks Everyone

That is master die doubling that happened to a large percentage of the 1972 cents from all three mints.

The good thing is that you did detect actual doubling. The trouble is that this was so common for the year that prevalence makes it worthless. I suspect that even if this occurred in the last month of production that those volumes wouldn't likely have changed matters all that much.
