@david, I am by no means knowledgeable about these coins, but my interpretation of the Zeugitania's reverse was that there was a little bit of saddle on the horse rather than palm tree trunk showing through. I can see what you are saying though, the doubling on the root of the tail is mostly offset down with a little offset to the right. Now that I think about it more specifically (and cheat by looking it up on horse.com), saddles were invented in 365 AD so there is no way for this to be a saddle.
