Your friend definitely seems to be correct about this being the "must see" site, in my humble opinion. I recently got back into the hobby after a twenty-ish year hiatus, and lurked on multiple sites before deciding to land here. Have not regretted that decision in the slightest. Some of the nicest and most knowledgeable people I have seen in any community.
Information overload is definitely something that I find myself trying to get accustomed to, as well. Things just spread so much faster today than when we used to have to wait for published materials and rely on what we heard at the LCS. It is exhilarating, though, to see that the hobby continues strong.
Enjoy your stay! This site has become my most invaluable reference, as I imagine it has become for a lot of folks either new or returning.
