So I bought a 2016 Anniversary Australian mint set on ebay for my Oz type set. I bought it from an Australian seller (edlins1) who seems to sell all or almost all Australian items, listed as being in Australia. No problem with the product, exactly as advertised and pictured, reasonable shipping time and cheap shipping cost. So what is my weird?
The package containing my nice new Aussie mint set came from Germany. German postage. German customs declaration. German address.

That's right! I forgot. Austria, Australia, they're the same place, right?

The only reason I could think of is that he uses a contact in Germany to make use of the (much) lower international shipping rates in Germany compared to Australia. I know Dutch people sending their stuff from Germany because it's cheaper there, and shipping from Australia to the Netherlands is double what you'd pay to ship the same thing from the Netherlands to Australia.

Maybe take up philately?

Seriously, though on one of the recent ancient coin threads, there was a similar situation where a German seller was shipping from Hong Kong.
