I recently received a 1953B Red Seal five Dollar bill, in my change. Serial # C40956227A. Quite a few folds though not very bad, no tears, no holes, and some wear though not major! Signatures are Smith and Dillon. I would like to know if this bill is rare and if it is worth anything more than face value!

If you got this in circulation I would say it is a good find and you want see many of them in circulation! I think it is a good find and I would hold on to it unless you need to sell it! Maybe in between 8 and 12 dollars

Whatever you do, don't cash it in for face. That bill would get shredded by the FRB if they got their hands on it.
It's a US Bank Note aka legal tender (meaning it's a direct obligation of the US Treasury unlike FRB notes we use today). It's definitely worth more than face, no matter what any dealer tells you.
It's even sweeter that you found it in circulation. Usually only the $2 legal tenders can be found in circulation due to their low circulation numbers.

I love the "red seal" U.S. Notes. Just because they're different and a bit of fresh air! You're right, these are very uncommon in circulation. I've been looking at my money for decades, and probably only found two red seals. I'm guessing that it's worth about twice the face value, but probably worth more to a treasure hunter!

The price guide says the '53B Smith-Dillon is worth $10 in fine condition and $15 in XF.

its just a US note instead of a treasury note, nothing really special about them and in the condition you mentioned it may be worth a couple dollars

Alot of dealers wouldnt pay over face for it (I have actually seen a dealer turn someone down who offered one to him for $6), but it has alot of "coolness" value. definitely do not spend it.
