The 20 for 20 may be the best design of all.

Yes, the Star Trek 20 for 20's are very nice looking. The 100 for 100 Orca is really nice too. The last couple of these releases compensate for the ugly Superman 20 for 20.
BTW, all of the 20 for 20 coins bought at Mint Boutiques come wrapped in cellophane whereas the ones from the Mint do not have this wrapping. That is why I usually buy them at the stores.

This one screams enhancement. Once the platers add some gold to the 50th insignia, it will (unfortunately) be even better IMO. Maybe something like this....

Nice Photoshop cc ottawa!
I might have to sacrifice one 20 4 20 and break out the glitter pen! Just joking :)

Used to buy them from CP for gifts. $5 extra, but it worth "sealed" presentation. Thanks, CC-Ottawa, for the picture. The 20for20 has a best design in all series (including the gold coin).

You right, Decadon. At CP and Dealers, these coins were for 24.95 ($5 extra) and 100for100 priced 124.95 .....

A week ago, I questioned the Mint website as to why no Mintage posted for the Star Trek coin and stamp set.
They responded today with this answer: "Until Supplies last, there is no Mintage on this item"!

Silveroid...noooo don't buy from Canada Post for $6 extra dollars. LOL
Just order it from Imaginaire.com for $20. It's sealed at Imaginaire, if you order $50, it ships free.

Check the other forum, guys. The members posted interesting research info about Star Trek Gold coin CP allocation. Still you safe with the RCM return policy. But for some, if you collect only the "hits" , it might not really work out with this coin.

Lol. Some good information. In rebuttal of the summary over there, I didn't suggest that new coin collectors were buying to flip. I suggested that new flippers (I.e. high tier MC, and those lucky enough to buy from a dealer, who don't usually flip) seemed to be buying on spec. Coin collectors and flippers are different and have different and often specific knowledge...though sometimes the lines gets blurred. My thesis was that the folks who generally flip everything (coins, stamps, cell phones, Pepsi cans, whatever) seemed to be sitting this one out (at least as a flipping opportunity) and that speaks volumes to me as far as reselling the coin. Of course for those who have no intention of reselling, all of that is moot. But knowing that you have a chance to order from CP at issue in September, would you pay a premium on ebay or elsewhere? Not likely at least until CP is sold out or you're an unformed or indifferent buyer - plenty of which ebay sales prove exist every day.

Canada Post is going to sell Gold Star Trek in September. This, for sure, will affect short term prices on secondary market. But due to low mintage of 1500 pcs pure 1/2oz gold coin, I doubt secondary market's price, for long term, will drop below RCM's issue price CAD$1300. After all, 1/2oz Gold Maple Leaf bullion coin, is currently selling for CAD$900. Due to high price item, 4 months waiting period, CP plans to sell in September. Less and less flippers shall get involve. This shall be good ( or healthy ) for this coin in long term.

I agree with most of that but it still does not explain why the usually bullish flippers on RFD are taking a pass. Most of them are high level MC and had opportunity to buy the coin from the RCM with all the benefits you and others have noted - 4 months to evaluate the market, 30 day return, no money out of pocket until Sept/Oct. etc. Everyone seems to think the coin will sell for over issue though how much over is debateable. So what's the downside for flippers? That is, why are they staying away? If it only sells for a $100 over issue in September, then don't sell it, send it back for a refund. If it sells for $1600-2000, then that's a pretty easy return. Are they just afraid of ebay scams because it's a higher value item? Or...are the real flippers realizing that other are acting on their posts and they are now saying one thing on-line to throw those lurkers off, while doing another in the real world.

And, the saga continues!
Also, I will find out either tomorrow or the next whether the Gold coins will be available in September at Canada Post.

Believe it or not, a few years ago, some of the user at RFD proposed a private forum where they could have off line conversations. That was prompted by the belief that too many lurkers were buying up coins based on public posts. Maybe they did it. I think justsilver confirmed that CP will be selling the delta in September though more confirmation couldn't hurt.
