There is someone on the other forum who claim he was able to order a gold Star Trek coin because he is on a waitlist. So did anyone else on a wait list able to get one?

Quote:still don't understand the RCM's logic in the gold coins delayed release. This is marketing move, just to get more money. The fact: *RCM has to release it in Sept (for 50-Anniv) *Mint knows, that the coins will be purchased with no problems by usual "big spenders", or coin re-sellers or other customers. Mint not just want to sell the coin, but to get money from these who do not have such amount (not all will easy pay $1300 for the coin), then Mint used it's monthly payment program, for which this delay essentially needed. Added: But guys, is it really important for you to get (for collection) this 1/2oz gold expensive coin (CAD 1300), rather then 1oz Silver Gilded "Delta" coin same / almost same design, priced CAD 100+ (which RCM will probably release later)?

Quote: Any idea of the mintage on that 1oz Silver Gilded Delta badge? Sorry, it my Assumption only (meanwhile) of what the Mint will do in order to get more money from a license. But if something like this will be released, the mintage will not be low...usual RCM's 7500 probably

Very suspicious quiet about Star Trek coins - the released ones and the Gold Delta coin.
The Silver and the CuNi probably not causing the excitement, while for the gold some options : *people queietly accumulate them from different sources *people wait for official release *the interest already lost, topic isn't new and coin forgotten without being released.

What do you expect from people who are awaiting the arrival of the gold Star Trek emblem? There is a lull because it has not come out yet and there is no reason for anyone to advertise it if they do not have it in hand.
It is SOLD OUT everywhere right now with the exception possibly of Canada Post come September. We shall see what happens then because no one has a crystal ball.

September is the "official" 50th anniversary month for Star Trek. One could see an increase in interest as pre-sales become available in late August and early September for the gold.

Wouldn't it be interesting if the gold delta was merely the first of a $200 series of insignias? 191890505307Set Phasers to Stun your bank account. <joking>

I suggested that the Insignia will be part of a series back on May 5. Quote: The coin will likely be the first in a series, so this one will be very valuable, like the 2013 Superman coin.
Remember this is the delta symbol worn by Captain Kirk. Every captain has different design. So maybe next year we have the one worn by Captain Picard. The Perth Mint had all the series of Star Trek. They followed up TOS with Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyageur. So I expect the RCM will do the same with new Star Trek series every year. Like the RCM did with new Superman coins every year.

I hope so MoneyPenney! @wildflowerAB "Set Phasers to Stun your bank account" is right...lol. Oh well, I'd rather give it to the RCM instead of letting the bankers teleport it into their vaults...

Love them or hate them, these TM coins have brought another collector into the scene. Numismatics is new to me, but when I saw the Star Trek stamps at the post office it wasn't long before I discovered the Mint's 50th anniversary offerings. Honestly, the only Star Trek coin I've purchased is the $20 for $20 (though if I'd had the money and opportunity I'm fairly certain I'd have tried to grab the gold Starfleet coin as well).
Frankly, I'm not a nut of trademarked "legal currency" but then from what I've been reading, I should be happy with my investment mostly for it's personal "oooh - ahhh" factor anyway, as recouping any monetary value looks tedious, at best. :) Latest acquisition: a 2013 bronze $3 Miss Canada... That will be a unique coin in my collection.

Wow 32 pages to read in 1 day. Many great points were raised. I love the enthusiasm of the newer members!! I will need to keep looking for an opportunity for a gold. So I can surprise my boyfriend, it would be a stunner for sure. We've gotten together again after 24 years of a great friendship!
I will need to liquidate some coin duplicates, so I will have the spare cash, if I find one. I will have the time to do prior to Sept. I love old coins, if I like a coin I don't lose interest, just because of a new release. I'm primarily a collector. New coins just means not as much time for the older ones. However, they're still greatly loved!!
