Quote:Personally, I couldn't care less how much it's going for on ebay, I really like the coin and was able to get it from the mint. I have a maple leaf collection going and this coin will fit nicely. Refreshing to know that not everyone buys NCLT with the mistaken notion that it's an easy road to profit! My way of looking at it, forsake a few rounds of golf or drinks at a restaurant, spend the money on a collection that appeals to one instead, at least there's something to look at. Collections of Maple Leaf themed NCLT are not often mentioned. In numbers, it must rival that of the SD. When you have the time, it would be interesting if you'd share what your collection consists of.

Thats good, I suspect most collectors have this view since if everyone only bought to flip on ebay, they would all be trying to sell it to one another lol. Dont think that would work out to well... Need actual collectors that care mainly about the coin and not resell values to keep this market going since a large percentage of NCLTs wont increase in value, but its nice when the odd one that you did buy does jumps up in price/demand.

Thank-you wildflowerAB; I only started collecting last year, first with the face value coins but expanded my collection this year. I like to display the coins and have 1 shelf dedicated to maple leaf coins, so far I have the Maple Leaf 1/2 coins from the last 2 years, the 25 for 25 and the rectangle flag from last. The Muarano is the most expensive coin for me so far and it will be the show piece in the group. I've purchased around 30 coins from the mint since last year and a few off ebay , I recently purchased the Queens 90th birthday coins from the RCM, UK Mint and the Australian Mint and will display them as a set.

@ onecad. Seems you're off to a good start! It takes a fair amount of personal discipline to collect with a theme in mind considering the monthly NCLT releases consisting of soup to nuts. And I'm impressed that you've already recognized a collection requires some type of convenient means to view in order to provide satisfaction and achievement value.
When you 5oz Maple Leaf arrives, feel free to post a pic of your shelf. It's always interesting when others share their display talents.

, Onecad and congrats for nice start. be patient and do not grab all what you like. The issue even not with the money that you will pay, but to have the nicely balanced collection and not the infinite sets and single coins makes your place similar to coins warehouse.

Colonial Acres already out of stock.
Looks like popular
Update: The Coin Shoppe is also Out-of-stock. Do people clearing out dealer's stock?

Strange. Looks like Colonial Acres and The Coin Shoppe each had only 1 in stock, which sold out immediately.
Gatewest still has stock with a limit of one. No discount.
I suspect we'll be seeing this coin on the Shopping Channel soon for $700 - $800. I'll bet that's where the bulk has gone.

I can't say, I've never had either in hand. LOL! But what I noticed is that the 2015 5oz $50 hologram Maple Leaf was a first, likewise this year the Murano Glass is a first as well, all other things being equal except last year's mintage was 500 less. Therefore it has the possible makings of an annual series. However buyers who might be inspired to buy last year's version now are going to find the pickings are rather slim.....watch the price rise of the 2015 if demand increases on a limited supply. (Similarly to what occurred with the 2011 Ladybug.)

Quote: I notice in 2015 a $50 5oz was also issued featuring a maple leaf, mintage of 1,500. I don't recall it receiving a great deal of fanfare. http://www.colonialacres.com/produc...xempt-142183But very odd, I can't seem to find even a single one for sale on ebay. I remember a bit of excitement over this coin, and it sold out quickly. Glad I managed to get one. It's a stunning coin and is one my favourites. You're right, it's very hard to find. Haven't seen too many on ebay in the last year. If I ever had to sell my collection this would be one of the last to go.

Holograms often do not photograph well but the 2015 sure looks like a beautiful coin. Almost 1499 others must be extremely happy with it as well.....first time I've ever noticed an NCLT in the $500 range or less that's so scarce! Perhaps it's my preference in collecting groups or sets but I think this is a great example of collectors like you who are handed a delightful bonus because it adds even more appeal to a past released NCLT. It would be nice to think RCM might do this intentionally from time to time, sort of like releasing a surprise series.
