I'm almost embarrassed to post this coin. Machine Doubling seems so obvious but this one keeps me looking at it. What puzzles me is that although there are edges that are shelf like with a MD but there are other areas that are not. Take a long look at each image and your opinion appreciated. Suspect areas to me are the split serif at the bottom of the "N" "I" and the star above the fist L. Also look at the "dot" left of the U...it's split. Thanks for looking.

Thanks John, always appreciate your input. I agree the shelf like appearance is the dead giveaway for MDing. But I think these areas baffle me in the next images... The "shelf" tapers up and cuts into the original device. Also split serifs on the bottom left of the N, I, tip of L and the Dot is split. . I'm sure it's just a red herring or some kind of variety of MD but it's one I keep looking at. Thx

On the devices, none are enlarged like you would see on hub doubling. Machine damage is present. But the areas that have arrows are affected at the tops of the devices. This type looks like MD also, but perhaps a different form. To me this indicates that these happened during ejection of coin. I've seen this before in insolated areas. Usually affects the tops of the devices.

It is still all caused by the machine from a normal die. If it were hub doubling, it would be enlarged. But machine damage is just that, damaged after the strike.

Besides the MDD, I would think the doubling you are pointing out would be too minor to get excited about.
