Just rediscovered this old friend tucked away in my safe deposit box.
A very low grade piece, probably was used and circulated well past the roman era.
It depicts Concordia seated on the reverse. This reverse is fairly common
on Vitellius' denarii, somewhat scarce on his Dupondii and Asse, but very rare on Vitellius sestertii. Only one auction record.

Thought I would share - share you Vitelllius coins if you have them!

Vitellius. AD 69. Æ Sestertius. Rome mint. Laureate and draped bust right / Concordia seated left, holding branch and scepter. RIC I 133.

Nice to find a surprise like this in your safe deposit box! Sorry nothing in my collection from Vitellius to share. I have a Vespasian from around this timeframe, but will share him when there is a thread for him.

Nice enough really !
Well worn but for the type I would give it a strong F condition with some good eye appeal.
Well centered and enough legend to make it "readable".

I think with better lighting the pics could be improved somewhat.
A coin like this (online) would attract my attention as being one of those "much better in hand" deals.

Rather harshly cleaned. I would try to darken it down a bit.
Give it a more 'venerable' look !

Even though it's well worn I still wouldn't mind have it.

Well, no one else is, but I need the practice. I'm working in a new photo setup and haven't worked out the bugs yet, so sorry for the poorly lit shot. But here is an example from my collection with the reverse figure facing the other way.

Vitellius AE Provincial As Tarraco
VICTORIA AVGVSTI

I bought the first for the obverse and the second for the reverse.
Someday I might have to fix this problem !
