Hard to tell from the pics but this coin looks to be at least XF. Not sure about the originality of the surfaces.

Justined, you really need to show a larger picture of the obverse and reverse of the Half Cent. I just picked up my first, last summer and was, Happy Happy..

Possibly recolored. Do post close-ups of both sides.

IMHO, the "coin" in the OP's pic is not genuine. The color and exceptionally crisp details, along with the lack of any circulation marks caused me to take a closer look, so I used the CCF Image Optimizer. Compare it to the one below in the PCGS slab, focusing on the date, in particular. Justinwd ... I'd run away from this contemplated purchase and be suspect of any other "coins" offered by this seller.

My first thought was fake as well. Date is completely wrong. Checked the no-no site, and there she is:

Fake coppers, too! Silver fakes are bad enough. Is there no escape from this curse?

Is this one, the OP's piece, being offered on ebay?

Justinwd ... You were wise to be cautious and seek out advice on an unfamiliar piece. Keep in mind that the sellers of these fakes may be unaware, themselves.
Happy hunting!

Yeah I tried letting him know, I was very polite, but he would have none of it and said he was gonna file a police report because I said it was fake lol. I told him go ahead. Some people can really be ridiculous, I was just being polite amd letting him know it was fake.

Does he have other suspected fakes? Many scammers will get offensive in an effort to quiet the purveyors of truth. The flea market vendor could be reported to the local Better Business Bureau, and this thread would be the proof in the pudding, perhaps? I had a go-round recently with an ebay seller. He was obviously upset with me, but I kept my cool. He wasn't a scammer, but he had a problem, admitting he was wrong. By sending him a specific means of doing a google search, using key words I suggested, he finally was able to see what I was talking about. He was reluctant to make the effort, but I convinced him that his good reputation, 100% feedback, was at stake. If I thought he was a scammer, I'd not have spent the time to get him to see the light.

Ouch ..... thought that the surfaces looked a bit off. Looks like I need a bit more practice in Counterfeit Detection on these. Honestly the flea market vendor sounds like a scammer who knows exactly what he is selling. There are several large indoor flea markets in my area with several vendors that sell lower end coins, bullion, and a lot of junk. I've heard from several local collectors that they have gotten burned with counterfeit coins at these locations. These flea market vendors are transient (not tied down to a brick & mortar location) and may be less inclined to stand behind their products and maintain a good reputation since they can just pack up their booth and go to the next flea market down the road and start anew.

Flea markets are a favorite place for people to unload fake coins or almost anything fake. At a flea market by me a dealer had a pile of Silver faked coins one of which was a 16D Merc Dime. Lots of people caught on and he never came back. However, I think he did sell of a few first. You have to be more careful at a flea market due to never seeing the sellers again.
