Started doing a Dansco Canadian Silver Maple leaf's (SML) album last year.
I am curious if others are putting a set of these together.

I am surprised that I don't have more, I have less than half
the holes filled. So far I am just buying them as they come
into two different LCS's.

Also .. any thought on trying to pick on the SML with privy
marks?

Today I got a 2012, last week I got the 2016 bigfoot.

privy marks, there is an awefull lot of them especially if you get into the horoscope ones..this year alone I think there is 7 of them.. I collect them as well, but I put them right into quandrum holders..i would be worried about them toning and milk spotting in a folder..but they may do that in my holders anyway..

Like my other coins I want to get a type set one day. I have a normal bullion SML, eventually will need a proof, reverse proof, the 25th anniversary one (really like the look of those), and possibly one with one privy mark

I keep one (best condition) of every year. The rest I melt. I have too many multiples of the same year.

I don't do the proof thing. I have two of the colored maple leaves ones and that's it. I bought them at peak silver to cut down on crazy premiums. I admit they are nice to look at.

I have started a SML privy set. I have five and just bought a 2013 -piedfort. I know I have a long road but I'm ready for the journey. Ever since I had to sell most of my ASE set I've been looking for something to take its place. I know they are not worth much beyond melt but I'm not in it to make money.

Made a count before putting the album away, I am at 14 of 30.

I do like some of the more interesting privy marks, and might
start watching ebay to see if I can pick some up at a good
price.

I have a set of Silver Maple Leafs from 1988-2008 all in Mylers. I'm still looking for the 2009-2010 in mylers. After 2010 they stopped with mylers from the Mint.I also have another set from 1988-2015 in capsules. I would also agree with Silverwolf on storing them in the dansco album would not be good for your coins. They will tarnish on you.

I personally don't collect the privy's because there's way to many of them. But the best privy one to get is the 2005 Maple Leaf Tulip. Mintage is only 3,500. also 1992,1996&1997 are the key dates for Silver Maple Leafs,1997 is the #1 key date.

Those are some very nice looking SML's

I disagree with coins toning in Dansco's.

I have over 75 Dansco albums. My oldest are over
30 years old. I have not had any problems with
toning. I have put some coins in Littleton albums,
trying to make them tone.

Any coins can get negative toning if they are not
stored in a controlled environment.

I work at a coin shop. I have seen coins come in
that have been in Whitman folders, and stored
in a properly for 50 years and have no problem.

On the other side .. I have seen coins stored in
every type of coin holder .. tubes, 2X2's Slabs
.. all of them .. but stored in uncontrolled area,
basements ... attics ..etc.. those coins can become
bullion value coins.

I considered starting a collection of SML, but after reading too often and too much about issues with milk spots and the Mint not being willing to do anything about it, I decided not to and to stick to ASE for now (in addition to collecting several series or countries of silver commemorative coins).

I have a complete set of SML and most of the privy SML, just missing 3-4 of those F12, F15 ones

The milk spot situation is actually a very easy fix. But the mint doesn't care because it would probably take them a couple of minutes, therefore some labor. I should add that I try to collect only ones without milk spots because face it they are simply bullion. It takes some patience to collect only clean pieces.

I understand about the milk/white spots. I bought a 2010 today, I thought
the spots would dip out .. But can see them. I might try something else.

Or I might just put into my silver box.
