Which denomination is the best to find a collection dump?

The best I have done in a box of dimes was 29 silver Roosies. Pennies found 20 Wheaties in one box. Nickels found 5 Buffalo nickels in one box. Half Dollars found 22 40%ers in one box. Not sure if I will say any of those were collection dumps or not. Maybe they were small collections.

Anyhow what are your experiences or which denomination would you say yields the best find results from collection dumps?

Thanks
Carlos

I found 100 silver quarters in one box, and I also found close to 400 silver quarters in another estate dump.

Lincoln cents are the best IMHO.
Once found a 1909 VDB, 1921 S, UNC 1938, and over 30 more wheats in one box alone.

I found over 100 40% halves in 2 boxes about 2 months ago, it was definitely someone's estate or dump haven't had near the success after that the last 2 months,.....sold all of them and made about $200 profit.

I've seen them in pretty much any denomination (even one occurrence if you read the Ike thread of some silver dollars), but I'd say cents and halves the most, followed by nickels, then dimes, and then quarters.

I would say pennies. I found over 900+ wheats in 3 boxes. It was fun going through those with my son. He was really excited.

Are we talking about coins that are unambiguously valuable? I'd argue that *the* most common collection dumps are State Quarters, followed by Prez $. I've personally dumped both denominations a couple years ago when I needed the money.

Beyond that, I would say I have had the best luck with nickels. I once found 4 solid rolls of dumped 1940s and 50s nickels, obviously in lower grades and with the silver and key dates picked up (although the former owner did not care greatly for S mints). Have also lucked into a solid roll of dateless and partial date Buffalo nickels.
