Yet another from my mystery tray, not sure if it is Greek or early Macedonian. First 2 pictures are of the Reverse and the other 3 are of what I think is the Obverse. First 2 pics - horse galloping right, with rider ? Next 3 pics - unsure which picture is correct, pic 1 looks most likely. Weight - 1.50g Size - 10mm Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the suggestion Athalbert, You got me intrigued so I went checking all the Pegasus coins and I think it may well be from Corinth. I found a similar coin on wildwinds depicting Bellerophon riding Pegasus on 1 side and a Chimera on the other, both facing right which appears less common. This was dated to 450-430bc and is a silver 1/2 stater, mine is obviously not silver but it is the closest match so far. SEAR #2622. I know Bob will put me right if I am going off on a tangent

Wow, tough one. The reverse could, as you say, Damion, be a cow. But I just don't know. Not much to go on here. Atrax, Thessaly, did mint an issue with a horseman and running bull. That might perhaps be a possibility: http://cNGCoins.com/Coin.aspx?CoinID=35062https://www.sixbid.com/browse.html?...1&lot=245874The challenge: the linked coins above are in the 16mm - 17mm range - although I must say the devices on yours do give the impression that the dies were intended for a larger flan. Another challenge is that the coins in the links have beaded borders around the obverse horse (granted, it could simply be worn away on yours). I am convinced that your horse does have a rider...I see a leg at left on the obverse, a leg that looks very much like the leg of the rider in the sixbid image. I don't think there's a Macedonian issue that matches the reverse. Man, I wish we had more to go on with the reverse! Sorry this is a such a stream of consciousness...I'm just writing thoughts as they come. If I come across any likely matches, I'll of course post them. Hopefully someone has some luck with this one!

Firstly my apologies to Alberto for not paying enough attention to his " cock " suggestion, as daft as it sounds my search started and ended with " peacock " Bob, you are a star I went through the links you provided and initially thought it had to be a " rooster " type but then I did a closer inspection of my coin and now I am not so sure, certain parts indicate that it is an ATRAX issue. Focusing on the mystery side as the horse & rider is definite. Protruding from what would be the chest of the rooster is a piece that isn't crud but is actually part of the design attached rather than encrustation, when viewed as a running bull it forms a leg. Beneath is some lettering which ends in " ON " the preceding letter appears to be an " I " Given these details what do you think ? I know the weight is an issue but maybe that has something to do with it being struck on an undersize flan. It might be small but blimey its interesting

Quote: Given these details what do you think? Well, it's a good working theory until something more definitive comes along. If it were my coin to label, I'd have a question mark after the attribution.

I think this coin may be from Kyme in Aeolis. The forepart of a horse, facing r, is a common image on their coins, and I think the other side is an eagle, facing r. It is unfortunate that none of the legends are visible.

The obverse certainly looks like this forepart of horse.
